Although the team hasn’t produced anything by way of an update as yet, it seems that a pair of hackers got tired of the delay and have developed an ultrasn0w fixer. This fixer works on the iPhone 4 and 3GS and will unlock iOS 5.0.1 firmware untethered. Unlike all other Jailbreaking tools, Ultrasn0w was never updated when iOS 5.0.1 firmware was released, and the users of this software were advised not to download the update. Ultrasn0w Fixer has quite appropriately ‘fixed’ this but please consider that it more than likely have a few bugs in it.

Step 1: First you will need to launch Cydia

Step 2: Tap on ‘Manage’ then ‘Sources’

Step 3: Then tap ‘Edit’ then ‘Add’ Enter the following: URL:　http://cydia.myrepospace.com/smolk/ Tap on ‘Add source’

Step 4: Once the source has installed you need to tap its name. Two packages for ultrasn0w will be presented one for the iPhone 3GS and one for the iPhone 4. Tab the package you requirefor it to be installed then reboot your device.

Step 5: When it comes to unlockable baseband preservation with iOS 5.0.1, Sn0wbreeze is the only tool that will support it; hence it is the only one you will be able to use. It is pointless using redsn0ws latest version to update iOS 5.0.1 as it cannot preserve your baseband. Only the following list of unlockable basebands are able to be unlocked with iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 3GS and 4 using the new ultrasn0w Fixer.
